There were moments when I questioned whether I was ready and whether I had made the right decision to start. I think many future practice owners experience that, and they get stuck before they even start.

You can be highly competent in your clinical role and still feel unsure of yourself when you enter the business side of healthcare. That does not make you a bad provider. Clinical practice and business ownership are two completely different skill sets. You know how to be a provider. Now you need to learn how to run a business.

One of the biggest lessons I learned was that you cannot wait until you feel ready. There will always be another question, another concern, or another reason to delay your practice.

At some point, you have to take the next reasonable step and just take that leap of faith.

That does not mean being careless. It means doing your research, understanding your risk, and asking for professional help when necessary—and continuing to move forward even when everything is not perfect, because it'll never be perfect.
